When it comes to bleaching, the concern we get to hear the most is “Will it damage my hair?” Well, bleaching does make your hair less soft to touch or frizzier, because it works by opening your hair cuticle to remove your natural pigment. But unlike many people’s belief, this ‘damage’ is not irreversible, and definitely not unmanageable. Read on to know our top tips on how to keep your hair soft and healthy even post bleaching.

Color with Paradyes

Our dyes are formulated with Ayurvedic herbal extracts and ultra-hydrating ingredients that replenish your hair health and add extra softness and shine post coloring. Our clients and volunteers report that hair becomes glossy and soft post dyeing, and any damage done by bleaching is minimized, if not reversed!

    Say yes to Hair Oils

Many people believe in that one shouldn’t oil their hair post bleaching. This, however, is a myth. Oils like Coconut, Olive, Almond and Argan are your hair’s best friends and a weekly oil massage can go a long way to keep your hair in optimum health, whether or not you have bleached your hair.

      Invest in a good conditioner

You don’t need to splurge on very expensive shampoos and conditioners, but choosing a decent conditioner or hair mask does a lot in reversing the damage caused by bleach while maintaining your hair’s hydration levels. Look for products that are free of parabens and sulphates and you should be good to go.

        Avoid Heat

Excessive heat styling with curlers, straighteners or blow dryers can cause your hair to go brittle or get frizzier. Keep heat styling to a minimum, and when you must use it, make sure you use a heat protection spray to protect your hair. Even when you shampoo, make sure the water is cold or at the most lukewarm, not hot, as hot water can be damaging to bleached hair.

          Regular Trims

Getting regular trims and hair cuts can prevent split-ends, and make your hair look healthier, bouncier and more voluminous.

Use a leave-in conditioner or serum

Using a leave-in serum post a hair wash can prevent roughness, tangles and eventual breakage while also adding a layer of moisture to dry and frizzy hair.

              Limit Shampooing frequency

Washing your hair every day or even every second day is quite unnecessary. In fact it tends to strip your scalp of its natural oils, resulting in drier and frizzier hair. Moreover, it will also make your color fade faster. Shampooing your hair once or twice a week is healthier for your hair- it keeps your hair soft and also keeps your color looking fresher for longer

                Avoid Swimming

Chlorine found in swimming pools or salt-water found in the ocean has a drying effect on colored hair, making it rough and frizzy. Not only this, it fades your color almost instantaneously. Avoid stepping into the ocean or pool post coloring, and if you must, use appropriate protective swimming caps.

                DIY Hair Masks

No need to break the bank in order to apply expensive hair masks that condition and hydrate your hair. You can whip up some pretty simple and effective hair masks just from your kitchen cabinet. Ingredients with a rich texture such as avocado, yoghurt, coconut oil, bananas, egg yolks, mayonnaise are all quite popular and known to work wonders on hair. A currently popular and convenient trick is to rinse your hair with rice water post washing to restore shine. Simply soak rice overnight and use the water to give yourself a post wash rinse.
